A blessed Feast of the Immaculate Conception to all.
We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which asserts that the Blessed Virgin Mary, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God, and in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, Saviour of the human race, was preserved free from every stain of original sin is a doctrine revealed by God and, for this reason, must be firmly and constantly believed by all the faithful. – Pope Pius IX,
Besides being a Holy Day of Obligation (Opportunity), in the diocese of Kansas City/St. Joseph a plenary indulgence may be obtained by the faithful under the usual conditions at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Conception, MO, Immaculate Conception Parish in Lexington, MO and Old St. Patrick Oratory in downtown KCMO. I don’t know if you get extra credit for driving through the 4-8″ of snow that’s predicted but I’m sure Mary will appreciate the effort.
Oh Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee!
