Had the skies not been threatening to unload I would have taken a better camera. Murphy’s Law. The weather held (a good thing) but alas I could only grab a couple of shots on the cellphone. Kevin Kelly of the Catholic Key was there so look for more photos and coverage there later. The sisters choral offerings were heavenly as always and there was a genuine joy in the air that can only be described as… as… Catholic.
His Excellency, Bishop Robert Finn addresses the gathered crowd after turning over the ceremonial first spade of dirt.

I cannot tell you how much I regret not being able to get a better shot of this. Kids of all ages were lining up for ATV rides with Mother and Sister. There was so much love and joy in the their eyes and faces it was contagious. And I’m not talking about the kids, though there was joy there as well. Note the future orchard in the background.

What a glorious day in the history of the diocese of Kansas City/St. Joseph. Deo Gratias!!
UPDATE 8/16/08: Kansas Catholic has outstanding coverage here.
