Again, let me state in the strongest possible way, that the murder of George Tiller was wrong, completely unjustifiable, against everything for which the Pro-Life community stands and merits the maximum penalty under Kansas law. Of course, this would exclude the death penalty as that too is contrary to a Pro-Life position.
That said, I am struck by the fact that the State of Kansas cannot pursue the death penalty in its case against Dr. Tiller’s accused killer, since it did not meet certain criteria. Under Kansas law, there has to be an “aggravating factor” for the death penalty: multiple victims, murder for hire, etc.
Ironic in this case. Very sad and ironic.

You’d think “murder” itself would be “aggravating” enough. Word games played by lawyers.
